shin splints

I'm one of those lucky runners afflicted with reoccurring shin splints. Just when I think they're gone...they come back! I've tried everything I can think of new shoes, different running surface, more time between runs, slower training schedule, slower pace, faster pace, compression sleeves and ice. Lots of ice. Rubbed on directly and just laid on top. I've seen improvement through those things but nothing has completely alleviated the pain for the long run. But I will persevere!
